Haystak's Success Beyond Rapping

Paul W. Arnold of the Murder Dog Hip Hop Magazine was able to interview Haystak before the release of his album entitled Portrait of a White Boy.

When asked about the album trilogy, Haystak said that after 18 months without an album released, he was pretty sure that his fans were expecting something big from him. He knew he had to deliver the musical bomb, the casino jackpot, the treasure chest of rap and hiphop in order to live up to their expectations. That is why he came up with a three-album trilogy, which he called as “The White Boy Trilogy”.

Regarding his crew Crazy White Boyz or C.W.B, Haystak proudly said that the group would release an album together with the DVD entitled White Boys Can’t Rap. Furthermore, he explained that C.W.B is a group of white boys, including him, who were criminals fated for death or the penitentiary. According to Haystak, the C.W.B. is actually a support group wherein during times that a member thinks about committing something wrong or stupid, the other C.W.B members would try to get that member back straight psychologically and mentally.

Haystak was further asked about the White Boys Can’t Rap DVD and he gladly talked about how the group came up with that movie. He said that around five or six years ago, wherever the group would go, Lexx Luger would carry along a video camera and record everything that they did, which was included in the movie. But the story really revolved about the wrong notion, and probably source of discrimination, that only black Americans have the talent for rapping.

It was eight years ago when Lexx Luger, one of the C.W.B. members, walked into a local studio in Nashville to record, and the engineer who looked at him said, "White boys can’t rap." And that discriminating line became the name of the group’s movie, as well as their website.

Haystak has done music with Bubba Sparxxx before, so he was asked whether he is still doing music with Bubba. Haystak opened up that they seldom talk and he wished that they could do more songs together as Bubba Sparxxx is becoming as independent as he is. But Haystak said that the C.W.B. would always hold Bubba down in any of his activities and endeavors and they wish him all the best.

Haystak also revealed that if 50 Cent would call and ask him to go, he definitely would because he admires the way 50 Cent runs his business and also because G-Unit and C.W.B. has the common quintessential characteristic, which is strength.

Regarding a substance issue, the Nashville native white-boy rapper said that he and everybody else that he represents are taking a firm stand against the hazardous crystal methamphetamine. He said that if you smell the chemicals, you must do something. Even calling the fire department would not be a bad idea considering the number of people who are being viciously scarred or are dying when meth labs explode. Moreover, meth substance is a hundred times more powerful than cocaine, and is therefore far more dangerous.

Lastly, Haystak was asked about his addressing the substance issue with the youth in some schools. Haystak admitted that he was starting an intervention program for the youth, as well as designing and distributing pamphlets that describe the appearance and odor of the meth substance. Haystak further voiced out that he sincerely cares for the young people and that he wants to protect them.
